My Covid Story

Gabriella’s employer isolated six employees who had all been exposed to an infected co-worker. Of her six colleagues, Gabriella was the only one able to access a COVID-19 test at that time (late March). She describes the experience at the drive-through testing center and the discomfort of the swab test. Due to inadequate sampling, she never knew for certain whether she had the virus. She did have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and self-quarantined for 8 or 10 weeks, which means that she didn’t see her teenage son during that time who stayed with her ex-spouse.

Gabriella’s employer practiced Contact Tracing for a group at work who had been exposed to COVID-19. All developed symptoms; none knew for certain whether they themselves contracted the virus.
